Although the residence is characterized mostly by its clean lines, there are industrial aspects to the home that contrast nicely with the overall minimalist aesthetic.
House in Tavira
House in Tavira is a minimal home located in Tavira, Portugal, designed by Joao Morgado. 400-some olive trees surround the house. An old building has to give place to a new one, keeping the two-volume-footprint in the soft topography. One volume is composed of irregular geometry while the other is composed of regular geometry. Both volumes are connected by a singular glass volume.
House on the Cliff
House on the Cliff is a minimal home located in Calp, Spain, designed by Fran Silvestre Arquitectos. The extremely steep plot of land offers such spectacular sea views that it invites one to spend time, relax and do nothing. A piece is incrusted into the sloping land, maintaining its natural profile which is overshadowed by the house on top.

House O is a minimal home located in Brandenburg, Germany, designed by Peter Ruge Architekten. The site is located in a beautiful scenic hillside in a small town in the district of Potsdam-Mittelmark with views over the lake. The surrounding neighborhood is dominated by villa-like historic and new single-family and multi-family homes. The large old trees on the property will get where possible.
‘A’ House
‘A’ House is a minimal home located in Shizuoka, Japan, designed by Florian Busch Architects. The ‘A’ House in Kisami is a private retreat overlooking the ocean at the southernmost tip of the Izu Peninsula, about 180km south of Tokyo. Located at the end of a tiny mountain road leading up a coastal hill, the site is on a steep slope with stunning views and sounds of the sea.
Lodge of Yatsugatake
Lodge of Yatsugatake is a minimal home located in Negano, Japan, designed by MDS. Lodge is located at the foot of the Southern Alps overlooking Yatsugatake. The fan-like home is arranged toward the South in order to utilize as much natural sunlight as possible in the winter. The architects wanted to assimilate the interior with the natural surrounding landscapes. As a result, wooden panels can be seen throughout the home’s ceilings, floors, and outlining of the walls.
Casa W
Casa W is a minimalist home located in Huentelauquen, Chile, designed by 01Arq. The home consists of three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a living room, and a terrace. There were a few constraints on this project which involved both monetary and physical limitations.
DT House
DT House is a minimalist home located in Oeiras, Portugal, designed by Jorge Graca Costa. The project focuses on applied energy-efficient principles by integrating accessible construction technologies. The residence sits atop a hill overlooking a magnificent surrounding landscape.
